Friends, Family, and Fat Chihuahuas

A typical spring break for any university student involves some kind of sunny beach and some type of cheap beer. But I gots two problems with that philosophy, ya see. For one, I'm a poor college kid and can't afford to stay at the beach for a week. Two, I don't drink. Ain't nobody got time for dat!!!

Originally I was gonna do something all spiffy this break and do a mission/service trip to the country of Panama through my international student ministry I lead. FSU has a campus there, and many students transfer to our main campus. For this reason, we host a orientation there for students who are transferring to our campus. But...I'm already raising funds/saving money to do an internship for a non-profit malnutrition center in Guatemala this year, so that was out of the question. Boo!! So..off to my parents' house I went. Yeah I'm cool...:/

But you know what?? I think that I'd rather spend time with the people I love than do just about anything! I got to have some great chats with my parents about being a wife/mom in the near future, making my passion of teaching a way of service, grad school and working for a non-profit or church immigrant ministry one day. I caught up with my friends Jamie, Rachel, Jacob, and on Sunday Jess. Melissa (my sister) and I laughged and giggled like the crazy, best friend sisters we are, which we don't get to do very often as busy, busy bee university students! Buzz buzz!

So kids....

Don't think that your life is lame cuz your idea of fun over Spring Break is playing with your friend's new kitten (and barking at it to mess with its head!) until 3 AM.

Don't think you're dumb because you'd rather spend your Friday night eating a frozen pizza with your crazy family and overweight Chihuhua instead of going out to some cray cray club!

Instead, enjoy everyday living with the people you love and that mean the most to you. You'll look back and remember those great times you had with them playing Apples to Apples, making cookies at 2 AM cuz you can, whatever. And to quote my friend Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."
